Asia Pacific Cities Summit 2009

I recently returned from a week away in Incheon, Korea where I attended the 2009 Asia Pacific Cities Summit as a member of the Lord Mayor’s Delegation.

The Asia Pacific Cities Summit, founded in 1996, is Brisbane City Council’s signature international event.

Recognised as the region’s leading business and government forum, the Summit provide a dynamic and interactive platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and successes between cities in the Asia Pacific.

The Summit is also an important forum for trade development between participating cities.

Each Summit attracts between 600 and 1000 delegates, including civic and business leaders, decision-makers and academics from key Asia Pacific Cities.

The participation of cities outside the Asia Pacific region in recent years highlights a growing interest in the APCS on a global level.

The Summit is held biennially, the host city alternating between the City of Brisbane and host cities in the Asia Pacific region.

It was a fantastic week filled with wonderful people, terrific conversations and interesting cultures. As with most events, the biggest take away for me was the people. I’ve made some great friends and business connections that I’ll no doubt keep for life. It was worth every cent and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
